As we are getting more members, as well as messing around with the forum's features, I have decided to make this thread. It's for tips. Some people know about some things, some don't so this is the thread to read about these things.

Let's start with user controls.



As you can see here, this is the navigation. You have the UCP, which is where you can edit your profile. You have your PM. It will say how many new messages you have.

The portal is the home page. It is what you see when you first log into CF.

The arcade is where you can go to when you're bored and you want to play a game. We have a lot of games installed for your convenience.

The Calendar is where you can see forum events that are coming up, such as CF COTY and such. It's also a nice little feature if you want to plan out things and need to look at a calendar.

The FAQ tab is where you can find answers to simple questions as well as to find out about the vast features this forum has such as the Friend/Foe thing we have and profiles.

Search is self explanatory. Search for a certain thing, such as beer, Cadillac, etc. You will find posts with the words you searched for there.

Members is where our total member list is.

Logout is self explanatory.



Many people have said "there's no view active topics" or "I can't view my posts"

Actually, you can.

"View unanswered posts" is where you can see threads that have no posts in them. Usually the brand new ones. Or ones that have gone on ignored.

"View Active topics" is where you can see all the topics that are being discussed. They are usually highlighted if you haven't read them.

"View New posts" is where you can see the newest posts to the latest threads you have replied to.

"View your posts" is where you can see all your posts. All the way to your first post on the forum.

Using the forum

Quotes
To quote a post, click the quote button on that post. However, if you need to quote something that's not on this board, click the quote button in the post settings:

Lists
To make a list, click the "List" button in a post. Then, for each item in the list, click the little [ * ].

Posting Images
To post an image from an off-site URL, click the "IMG" button.
[ img ]Image_Link_goes_here[ /img ]
If the image is larger than 700 pixels, it will automatically resize. There is an option to see the picture at full size at the top of the picture. It is a small magnifying lens.

Linking
To make a link, click the "URL" button
[ url ]Site Address[ /url ]

If you don't want the text of the URL to be the Site Address, do this:

[ url=Site Address Here ]Text you want to appear on the post[ /url ]

Stylize text
To bold, Italicize, or underline text, just select the text and click the B, I, or U button.

Centering
To center an item, Press the center button, then enter the words in between the tags, like so
[ center ]Centering these words[ /center ]

Youtube embed
To embed a youtube video, press the youtube button, then paste the youtube url in between the tags, like so
[ youtube ]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAnDomLeTtErS[ /youtube ]

Google Video embed
To embed a Google Video, pres teh Gvideo button, then paste the Google Video URL in the tags like so

Will we ever have the ability to upload images directly from our own hard drives? That was one of the best components of the old AWCC. I didn't have to upload an image to Photobucket first. It's a minor thing but having direct upload capability would be seriously cool!

Go to POST REPLY, then you go to the bottom and click Add File an you can upload pics from your hard drive. Hope that helps.

We have always had the upload images feature. Personally I never capitalized on it because I'm used to getting embed links.

To get to the upload images (It's called attach images here btw) go to post reply, located at the top and the bottom of the page.

You will see the normal text box. Scroll down until you see "Upload attachment"
The uploader is there.

Once the file is uploaded, you can also have it at a certain part of the post by clicking "incline" by the file you uploaded. Just make sure your cursor is where you want the file to be.

So, we have THREE components of the old and original AWCC in place here:

1) No language filter - we are allowed to speak like adults.

2) The ability to direct upload from our hard drives. Some absolutely brilliant shit found its way into the AWCC because of that ability.

3) Many genuine AWCC vets are here.

I have to say that this forum is definitely heading in the right direction as far as I am concerned. We need to make sure all the AWCC vets, wherever they are, know this info.

This place will become EPIC if we can reunite the old gang.

Oh, and we also have an automatic resize feature so the page won't stretch out. Really good feature because you can post through your iPhone or PSP without overloading the devices' capability.

One thing I never really mention because I don't use it, but is a nifty feature, is the upload feature.

This feature allows you to upload pictures from your computer and post them here.

What you do is you go to "post reply" or when you start a new thread "post new thread" and type what you want to type in the box.

then you scroll down to to where it says submit. Under submit there is an "upload attachment" option. It works like a normal uploader. Just browse for the file and then click "add the file"

You can also add a comment to the file you upload if you desire.

When it is done uploading, press submit and you will have the file attached to your post and you're good to go.
